Andy On the Mound

So Pettitte let it all out today....

And thank God. I am watching the press conference as I write this, and I can't be more proud to be a Yankee fan. Here is a guy who knows he screwed up and is being completely honest about it. That is what the organization stands for, honesty, integrity, and pride. He is without a doubt a true Yankee.

In other news...I wanted to talk about the first base debate; who should get the nod. Lets start with the likely candidates, Giambi, Duncan, Ensberg, and Betemit (Lane doesn't seem to have a chance). If money were not involved in this scenario, I would say that Ensberg and Duncan should platoon first. Giambi is off the juice, and basically half of what he used to be. I seriously doubt his current bat could make up for his lack of defensive ability (although he does have his moments). Betemit is really a true bench player for an offensivly weak team. He can help late in the innings if a pinch hit is needed, but otherwise he's not that great. Ensberg has showed off what he can do several times before in Houston and lets be honest, if a person can play 3rd, they can play 1st. Duncan is a versatile player who can play first and outfield, and brings a lot of positive energy to the club house. If he learns that there is in fact a strike zone, and a batter does not have 5 strikes, he could be very helpful.

Ah, you left out the other former Astro player, Jason Lane. He's an outfielder by trade, but he was reported as being apart of that first base mix.
